Thank you so much for a fabulous stay over the Royal Wedding weekend. Everything could not have been more perfect – the animals – especially Hilary the pig, the loud frogs, the campfire and BBQ, and did I mention feeding the animals?! Thanks so much for your fantastic hospitality and organisation.

Natasha – 2nd May 2011

Bell Tents

Really enjoyed our weekend despite the sporadic thunderstorms and downpours – England huh?! Great walks, mud fights, hot soup….and cheering when the sun came out. It’s a perfect set up, well done!

Harriet – June 2011

Bell Tents

We had a very magical stay at The Meadowkeepers Cottage at Swallowtail Hill. Sarah was ultra helpful before we arrived and we were left to our own devices once we had settled in or could pop up to the farmhouse at anytime if we needed to. The Cottage is well appointed and the outdoor shower is lovely to use listening to the birds singing nearby and the wind through the rushes. We had a torrential downpour on the Saturday night and even that didn’t dampen our spirits! It was absolutely perfect and made all the more so because we got engaged on the Friday night in front of the Campfire!

Kathryn – 9th September 2011

Meadow Keepers Cottage

The setting was beautiful and so peaceful. We felt away from everyone and everything completely. The care and attention put into building the cottage was first class. It was beautiful. I loved heating the water ourselves and really respected their eco-friendly approach. Sarah and Chris were such friendly hosts and so great with the children who loved feeding the animals – especially the great big pigs, with apples picked from trees in their orchard. We never go back to the same place – but are making a complete exception with this place. It’s going to be our secret escape (although, thinking about it, we’ve already told loads of people)!

Becky – 4th September 2011

Meadow Keepers Cottage

This place was clearly made with love. Everything has been thought of which made our stay perfect – and it was a blessing that we got such wonderful weather at this time of the year. We spent the whole day outside! What can I say? Perfect setting, autumn colours, fire, cosiness, fun, animals – very relaxed. Thank you. We will come again!

Woodcutter’s Cottage

What a beautiful cottage! Peaceful woods, cosy fire.  We are really impressed with all the equipment provided and just everything! We will definitely be looking to come and stay again. Massive thanks to Sarah for being a wonderful host!

Layla & Joe – October 2013

Woodcutter’s Cottage

Life in a fairy tale! We’ve just spent the most amazing long weekend at Woodcutter’s Cottage. The children (age 6 and 13 months) have loved every minute including toasting marshmallows, feeding the animals, picking blackberries and seeing ‘Jim’ the bat! Thank you so much for such a lovely relaxing time, it was what we badly needed. Hope to see you again soon.

The Barretts – September 2013

Woodcutter’s Cottage

The first time we’ve relaxed as a family in years! Loved every minute. Going to make a fire-pit when we get home!

Heaven – when can we move in?

Che & Sarah – June 2013

Woodcutter’s Cottage

Our stay in Meadow Keeper’s Cottage was perfect. Our two town-dwelling boys (Jake 8 and Zac 6) could go off and have adventures and here the boat was a big hit, as was the animal feeding.  Thank you for making such an amazing place.  Food for the soul.

Claire & Matt – August 2012

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage

We had such a perfect time. The cottage is beautiful and the beds lovely and comfy. We had such a fun time round the campfire and straight out of Wind In The Willows in the boat! You have taught us a lot about conservation which we will take home. Was so nice to escape the real world for a few days. We don’t want to leave.

Christopher and Sarah – Thank you! Very clever and rather wonderful.

Ian (42) and Maddie (5) – October 2011

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage

This is our third glamping holiday and our best experience so far! Sarah and Christopher run a very well organised and well considered operation. Wood Cabin was fully equipped with anything you could possibly require and the onsite farm shop was useful and stocked with the little extras you may need. the location is secluded, quiet and relaxing and there is plenty to do close by too! It’s always lovely to have a campfire and it’s possible to cook most things you’d like to because of the wide range of utensils, tools and pots!! We’ve really enjoyed our time here and would recommend to seasoned campers and novices alike. Definitely a place to revisit. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The Cabins – 2014

What a beautiful relaxing spot, we have had a lovely stay. It has been the first campfire we have been able to have since our baby girls was born. Also got to see a gorgeous full moon rising over the hill. Thank you for a great stay.

Dear Sarah and Christopher, I loved feeding the animals. Thank you for taking us to forest school. Love,

The Cabins – 2014

A lovely stay at Penfold Cabin. It’s a beautiful set-up and the little touches ensured a fantastic break. We got lucky with the weather and encourage as much campfire use as possible! And a trip to Camber Sands. Thank you Sarah for the animal feeding which the kids loved. I hope everyone else enjoys their stay as much as we have.

The Cabins – 2014

Sometimes in life you need a break
A rest, it seems, for sanity’s sake
So you pack a bag and hit the road
To ease the stress, to lighten the load
When modern life has taken its toll
You find a place to cheer the soul
Where rolling hills and woodland meet
Far from the rush of the city street
Where time moves at her own sweet pace
Paying little heed to your watch face
And tasks will take the time they will
To teach you the art of being still
Invest your days in Nature well
It’s your spirit that lasts, the body’s a shell
When you understand just how to ‘be’
You’ve mastered the trick of being free
And when you return from the break you’ve earned
Gather up the lessons you’ve learned
Weave them tightly and make a web
To skim life’s rivers’ flow and ebb
The greater the lessons, the greater the net
The greater the opportunities you’ll get
The foolish sit idly by and wait
For the fish to jump from river to plate
But the wise now that all life is flow
An endless dance and never ending show
Some just watch it whirl away
And never grasp the chance to play
So while you’re here enjoy your stay
And as you pack on your last day
Think on all the things you’ve done
Life’s a ride – make it fun.

The Cabins – 2014

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay with our friends and their family. We have made lots of happy memories and look forward to coming back soon. The cabins are gorgeous and well equipped. We really enjoyed feeding all the animals.

The Cabins – 2014

A fabulous stay celebrating our first wedding anniversary. We’ll be back again for sure!

Claire and Caroline

The Cabins – 2014

A lovely week spent roasting marshmallows on a campfire and reading by lantern light. A relaxing time spent with the family with many fabulous activities nearby and lots of fun on the farm.

Sarah, Steve and Dylan

The Cabins – 2014

We have loved every minute of our holiday! It has mostly poured with rain which has made very little difference. Only trouble is in the arrival excitement the children ran into the cabin with wellies on and put footprints on the beautifully clean white mats. So SORRY! Sarah what an immaculate place, and the love and care you pour into everything you do is abounding. What a wonderful place!

The Cabins – 2014

Thank you so much Sarah and Christopher for another fabulous visit! We’ve had another great, relaxing few days (even with a toddler this time). Toby was absolutely in his element feeding all the animals and exploring the campsite (as was Tim!) Wood Cabin was very comfortable and you’ve done such a great job making it family friendly. We look forward to our next visit!

Hannah, Tim and Toby

The Cabins – 2014

Had a lovely week here at Meadow Keeper’s Cottage. Mostly fantastic weather and so peaceful with no mobile signal! Stanley loved going on the boat in the pond with his Daddy, or running through the meadow and riding in the wheelbarrow up and down to the farm. Thanks for everything.

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage – 2014

We had a wonderful weekend of peace and tranquillity. The cottage is just lovely and it was just what was needed to re-charge our batteries. Thank you!

The O’Tooles

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage – 2014

To Sarah and Christopher
Thank you for the lovely hut and the pond with the boat. We really enjoyed feeding the animals and going for walks in the woods. We also enjoyed going in the boat and paddling around. Thank you so much.

The Hamiltons

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage – 2014

Our fourth year at Swallowtail Hill, second in Meadow Keeper’s Cottage. the perfect way to get away from the hullabloo of everyday life. As a father with two 9 year old girls it is fantastic to see them play without iPods, Kindles etc. We’ve seen rabbits, foxes, a water vole in the pond, and countless birds plus the blackberries taste great!

Time, Phoebe and Scarlet

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage – 2014

A very relaxing, short weekend break in a beautiful spot, perfect for recharging the batteries. Thank you.

Miranda and Angela

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage – 2014

Thank you so much for this amazing experience at Swallowtail Hill. We have had so much fun taking the boat out on to the pond, climbing the trees and looking at the stars. We especially enjoyed seeing all of your lovely animals and feeding them.

The Huntlys

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage – 2014

Yet another amazing holiday at Swallowtail Hill. Our sixth visit and still as fantastic as the first time. The baby moorhens were fascinating and came all the way up onto the decks to see what we were doing. Jess made a fishing net to try and catch dinner but failed and Harry just enjoyed being muddy! Thank you Sarah and Christopher for being such brilliant hosts.

The Ockendens

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage – 2014

A magical place to spend our wedding anniversary! Bubbles in the buttercups watched by the donkeys! A perfect place to just go slow and become carefree. We especially loved floating on the pond. A holiday we’ll never forget. Thank you!

Katie and Ben

Meadow Keeper’s Cottage – 2014

What a wonderful stay, very much enjoyed the hot shower at 11.30 at night – in the middle of the forest. Feel like Robin Hood now… where’s my mate Little John. Cheers.

Woodcutter’s Cottage – 2014

We’ve had a wonderful break here – thank you. We were warm and dry inside, listening to the wind and rain outside last night. Loved the shower! Found some lovely fat chestnuts to roast on the fire, and enjoyed a (rather soggy!) walk yesterday afternoon along some local footpaths.

Kate and Ollie

Woodcutter’s Cottage – 2014

Our second visit, this time though, we brought the kids, my brother and a niece. We have all thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it’s been wet! Had a lovely long walk, geocaching, roasted chestnuts, cooked on the open fire, done some whittling, visited Tenterden and Rye. I’m sure we’ll be back.
Thank you.

Woodcutter’s Cottage – 2014

Dear Sarah and Christopher
Thank you so much for the loveliest holiday we’ve ever been on. It feels like Snow White’s cottage! Everything is just perfect and so well thought out. it’s so secluded and peaceful, it’s so lovely to get close and personal to the animals. And I love the fact it’s all eco-friendly. You’ve created an amazing place here!!
